In northern Colorado, you can feel a change of seasons coming. Fall is right around the corner. The mornings have been a little cooler and daytime temperatures are trending down.
I also sense a change of seasons for myself. For the past couple of weeks I have been sensing a peacefulness and excitement for the future. I can feel the seasons changing.
“To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven,” Ecclesiastes 3:1
Seasonal changes can be tricky as they are usually not hard stop of one and beginning of the next. They usually blend together and some days you will feel like you are in the old season, while other days you will be in the new season. Eventually, the new season will completely take over.
Over time I have learned that when you sense a new season coming, or maybe a new one is already here for you, then I encourage you to be still. Be still and understand your new environment and new assignment. I think this is hard for many leaders to do. Leaders want to actively lead and that is great, but remember that leading requires a balance of activity and planning. Being still allows you to build the plan.
When you enter a new season I encourage you to think about what that means and start to create a plan. Your plan may not be the right one but do your best using past experiences and wisdom you have gained. Ask God about your plan and see what He says. Ask God for wisdom. Once you have the plan then take action. A good leader will adjust the plan along the way as needed.
What season are you currently in?
