Who am I, better question, who are you?

Have you ever taken the time to consider who you are—beyond your name, role, background, or other defining characteristics? What truly defines you at your core?

This is something I’ve been reflecting on recently, likely influenced by having more time to step back and think. When given the space to learn and grow, intentional self-reflection becomes increasingly valuable.

In the past, when approaching this question, I focused on attributes that translate well in a professional context—leadership, communication skills, adaptability, and comfort with ambiguity. While those qualities are important, they only provide a surface-level understanding. Along this journey, self-introspection is crucial, but the feedback from others about how they perceive me is just as vital. This might sound like work, but it feels more like an exciting adventure.

During a recent webinar that I attended the speaker asked everyone to ask friends and/or family what is the one characteristic that I posses which my friends/family would like to have. I have to admit I was surprised at some of the answers, like charismatic, kind+intelligent, analytical thinking, etc.

As I continue exploring a deeper perspective: who I am beyond those surface level descriptors. This line of thinking also raises broader questions about identity in today’s evolving landscape—how much of who we are is shaped internally versus influenced by external factors, including technology like AI.

As I continue to define who I am, I’m also gaining clarity on who I am not. That distinction is equally important. Ultimately, this process serves as a valuable exercise in self-awareness—helping to identify strengths, uncover areas for growth, and guide more intentional development.

I’m curious—have you taken time to reflect on who you are at your core?
